NYC underwater.

Why in the world would they build a whole city on such low ground?

  1. You could ask the same thing of New Orleans. Cities were built on river mouths for transportation reasons...and they kept growing after water was replaced as a primary transportation method.

  2. I was being snide.

That's exactly what the snotty, uncompassionate Yankees said about NO.

Fact is, things happen. And I'm horrified. Again.

  3. Saw this in the WSJ: The number of deaths attributed to Sandy rose late Wednesday to at least 72, nearly half in New York City, as authorities identified new victims in flooded homes and vehicles.

I guess them Yankees don't have enough sense to get out of the flood zones. It's almost like they didn't know they lived in a hurricane strike zone.
